Paper Planes
04:47
|
|||
I guess I’ll go back home
and on my way down the road
burn all the letters I wrote
about learning to walk alone
and sharing your best friends bones.
Maybe you’ll take that stroll
to places you wished you’d go
when running on your mind.
Remember collecting stones
and how paper planes unfold
My pockets won’t hold this gold
Pledge allegiance to the story you know
You can tell them all
the days grow long and old
the cage, the crimson wool.
Take your time walking on the wire
that’s separated you
the myth expired long ago.
How I wish that you could stay awhile
And spend some time alone
the room grows quiet when you go
The picture is still on my wall
it has been five years too long.
Remember to write it down in stone
to make sure that you know
everything you hide, well it will someday grow
into a script so long you won’t even know
what scenes are real and which are just for show.
If you come back home make sure that you know
to keep off the grass so that it grows
Take your time walking on the wire
that’s separated you
the myth expired long ago.
How I wish that you could stay awhile
and spend some time alone
the room goes quite when you go

Six Strong
03:32
|
|||
Kris keep the pace
six strong we race
to get to the next state on the map.
My eyes grow wide
it smells inside
the van where the radio plays.
The engines roar
the old screen door
has seen it’s better days.
Fresh air ain’t free
in this company
but I know morale is on the rise
The gospel band plays for the soul
and the countryman sings all alone
for a girl he knew back when.
The garage band drove a long ways from home
to sing their songs, sometimes all alone
and they’ll all be at work when Monday comes.

Revelations
03:49
|
|||
Standing on your rooftop
I nearly forgot I could die.
Thoughts welled up inside of me
i just couldn’t stop smiling.
I saw the answers clear
for the first time in year
as soon as it came it all disappeared.
I may have lost
but from what I’ve found
winning is a waste of my time.
My car broke down
late last night
standing all alone on the roadside.
A poor man walking by
groceries in hand
asked if he could help with the trouble I was.
Well I don’t want to judge
but it seems to me
those who have nothing
will give you everything.
I may have lost
but from what I find
winning is a waste of my time.
If you think you’ve reached
the front of the line
that will disappear in time.
Can you see your number
and read you revelation

Predators
04:23
|
|||
You’ll take my breath
I hope it suits you along the way.
The price is high
when reason dies
please don’t take it all from me.
Daylight, shines on me
I’m tired of predators not worthy of their prey.
Now I am on my way
to face the ghost of an ageless day
because it’s all their
sitting in front of me
I lost my way
when we walked at night last fall.
The trees cried
and you sighed
god why’d you make me this way?
Daylight, rescue me
I’m tired of predators not worthy of their prey
Now I’m on my way
to face the ghost of an ageless day
because its all their
sitting in front of me
We’ll charge farther
into collision that will rattle the plains.
I’ve seen the proof
so keep your hands away.

Of the Road
02:50
|
|||
I’ve been cut from the bright eyes
and sank with the low
memories of waging echo.
The decency that I’ve found
It’s our will here that binds us
callings in cadence we throw
You must go to now what calls for you
find the river that’s bound to meet it’s end.
Brother, time sits like dust
That gathers when we sit still
follies of this old road forever with me
The images came charging
and my kings laid numb.
Voices from the gallows rang out
Why sit on the corner?
Chuck, lets go riding for a while.
I traced their footsteps a million times over
To caress the warmth
that sits at arms length.
My eyes fixed on their shapes too many times
Demons I once feared
now comfort me in my sleep.
The rulings of this land now rule over me.
Brother, time sits like dust
that gathers when we sit still

In Smithfield
02:01
|
|||
We ride out tonight
tomorrow we will reach the Manassas line.
At dusk Blackwell and I
saw fires burn in the Southern skies.
I dreamt last night
that we were laying by the riverside.
The breeze caught us just right
we promised chuck we would never go back home
I’ll pay the debt I owe
lay down all my joys in this world.
I hope the violins play
When I join the mob that I was born from.

Goliath
02:27
|
|||
Pack up your tales
and all your sins
we’ll take them back home.
The time has come
to step aside
and cut the mooring line.
The stones that boy throws
shoot up past us all
The moon came fast
and her we sat
as our pride snuck away.
The honest life
was too damn hard
I should have never came.
The stones that boy throws
shoot up past us all
Have you seen a giant
fall from a stone?
Thrown by a boy
